WHAT TO EXPECT

  • How do I know if I need therapy?
Recognizing whether you might benefit from therapy can depend on a variety of factors. Here are some signs that therapy might be helpful for you: Feeling Overwhelmed: If you're constantly feeling stressed, anxious, or unable to cope with daily life, therapy can help you process those emotions. Struggling with Relationships: If you're facing difficulties in your relationships, whether with a partner, family, or friends, therapy can provide tools to improve communication and connection. Experiencing a Major Life Change: Big transitions like a job change, loss, or moving can feel unsettling, and therapy can help you navigate the emotional impact. Feeling Stuck: If you’re feeling unmotivated, directionless, or unsure of your purpose, therapy can provide clarity and help you set meaningful goals. Unhealthy Coping: If you find yourself turning to unhealthy habits—such as substance use, overeating, or withdrawing from others—therapy can offer healthier coping strategies. Persistent Negative Thoughts: If you’re caught in cycles of negative thinking, self-criticism, or feel overwhelmed by sadness or worry, therapy can offer a safe space to explore and shift those thoughts. Ultimately, if you’re questioning whether therapy could help, it’s often worth giving it a try. Therapy is a space to explore your feelings, gain perspective, and improve your mental and emotional well-being.
  • How long are therapy sessions?
Our therapy sessions are typically 55 minutes.
  • Does everything we talk about during my session stay confidential?
Therapy is your safe place, and you need to know that what you share is privileged and confidential between you and your therapist. We are honored by the vulnerability and trust our clients place in us to discuss their most personal thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Under HIPPA regulations, state law and professional ethics require therapists to maintain confidentiality unless you (or a minor) are assessed to be at imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, a judge orders it, you consent to it, or in the event of a medical emergency wherein we may need to disclose relevant life-saving information. Parents of minors receiving treatment: Please note confidentiality includes topics such as substance use, self-harm, or sexual experiences (to name a few). Outside the four limits of confidentiality outlined above, your minor has the same rights to confidentiality as an adult. Please speak with your child’s therapist regarding any specific concerns or questions related to confidentiality. Successful therapy requires a high degree of trust with highly sensitive subject matter that is usually not discussed anywhere but the therapist’s office. State law and professional ethics require therapists to maintain confidentiality except for the following situations: • Suspected past or present abuse or neglect of children, adults, and elders to the authorities, including Child Protection and law enforcement, based on information provided by the client or collateral sources. • If the therapist has reason to suspect the client is seriously in danger of harming him/herself or has threatened to harm another person.
  • Can I schedule / reschedule my appointment online?
You can submit requests for treatment online via the contact form on this page. You can also contact your therapist directly to schedule/cancel any appointments. Therapists manage their own schedules, so contacting them directly is the most efficient way to address any scheduling concerns.
  • What types of massage do you offer?
We offer a variety of massage techniques, including Swedish, deep tissue, and therapeutic massage. Each type is tailored to your specific needs, whether you’re looking to relax, relieve tension, or manage pain.
  • How long is a typical massage session?
Sessions typically last 60 to 90 minutes, depending on your preference. We’ll discuss your goals beforehand to make sure you get the most out of your time.
  • Do I need to bring anything to my massage appointment?
Just bring yourself! We provide everything you need for the session, including towels, oils, and a comfortable, private space. Wear something comfortable to change into afterward if you’d like.
  • Can massage therapy help with chronic pain or stress?
Yes, massage therapy is highly effective for reducing chronic pain, muscle tension, and stress. Regular sessions can also improve flexibility, circulation, and overall well-being.
  • How often should I get a massage for optimal results?
It depends on your individual needs, but many people benefit from a massage every 2 to 4 weeks. For chronic pain or high-stress levels, more frequent sessions might be recommended.
  • What is breathwork, and how does it benefit my health?
Breathwork involves specific breathing techniques designed to improve mental clarity, emotional well-being, and physical health. It helps to release stress, promote relaxation, and enhance mindfulness.
  • What should I expect during a breathwork session?
During a breathwork session, you’ll be guided through various breathing exercises. You may experience emotional or physical sensations as your body releases built-up tension and energy. Sessions typically last 45-60 minutes and can be deeply transformative.
  • Are there any physical or emotional risks involved in breathwork?
For most people, breathwork is safe and beneficial. However, if you have respiratory conditions, heart issues, or are pregnant, it’s important to consult with a professional beforehand. Emotional releases can occur, but our practitioners provide a safe, supportive environment.

  • How can EFT tapping help with anxiety, stress, or emotional blocks?
EFT tapping helps to rewire the brain’s response to stress, reducing the intensity of negative emotions like anxiety, fear, and anger. By addressing these emotional blocks, you can experience greater mental clarity, emotional freedom, and improved well-being.

  • Does insurance cover marriage / couples counseling?
In Michigan, insurance coverage for marriage or couples counseling varies by plan. In many cases, counseling can be billed under the mental health benefits of your insurance, especially if one or both partners have a diagnosed mental health condition, like anxiety or depression, and the counseling is part of their treatment. If insurance doesn’t cover it, couples can choose to pay out-of-pocket. It's best to check with your insurance provider to confirm what’s covered and any specific requirements for counseling.
  • Will you verify my insurance?
Yes, we will verify with your provider whether your sessions will be covered and provide a cost estimate prior to starting treatment.
  • Do I need to keep my card on file?
Dynamic Life Counseling LLC requires you to provide your credit/debit card information on file with us so we can automatically charge any co-pays, co-insurance, deductible amounts, and professional service charges such as late cancelation or missed appointment charges. It is the client’s responsibility to keep cards accurate and up to date. We store financial information and other protected health information in an encrypted, HIPAA compliant site. Payment is required at the time of service. We provide regular statements for your account balance via mail or through the patient portal. You may pay your balance in session with your therapist, online via your patient portal or by check or cash. If balance accrues and no payment is received, we reserve the right to seek payment by any means, including using the credit/debit information we have on file, retaining the collection agency, and taking legal action in court. We may be willing to work out a client payment plan that includes a reasonable period for resolving the balance. If the client’s balance remains unpaid, we reserve the right to suspend services until the balance is paid in part or in full.
