Telehealth 101
Telehealth allows you to meet with your therapist from the comfort of your own space, using your computer instead of visiting in person. At your session time, your therapist will email you a link to join the video call.
DEVICES
What works best?
Best Choice: A desktop or laptop computer.
These devices let you see shared documents clearly, participate in on-screen activities, and use helpful features like chat.
Okay Option: Tablets or iPads.
While they work, smaller screens and missing keyboards make it harder to interact fully.
Not Recommended: Phones.
Their small screens and limited features make it difficult to engage effectively.
Creating the right environment
To get the most out of your session:
Set Up a Structured Space:
Use a desk or table where the device can stay stable, and sit up straight to stay focused. Beds or handheld devices can make it harder to concentrate.
Avoid Vehicles:
Whether moving or parked, vehicles are distracting and not suitable for telehealth. Sessions held in vehicles will need to be rescheduled.
Have a Parent Nearby:
For younger clients, an adult should be close by to assist with tech issues or other needs during the session.
If you need help with setup or troubleshooting, let us know, we’re here to support you!
Telehealth can be a calming and effective way to meet your goals. Reach out if you have any questions or concerns - we’re happy to guide you every step of the way.
STEP 1
Joining your telehealth session on Google Meet
Your therapist will email you a link to join the session, and it will look something like this: meet.google.com/pzz-shkg-ybi*
*Please note this is an example link, do not click this one for your session.
Here’s how to join:
-
Click the link directly from your email, or
-
Go to meet.google.com and enter the meeting code.
The meeting code is the 10 letters at the end of the link. For example, in the link above, the code is pzz-shkg-ybi.
Using a mobile device like an iPad? Be sure to download the Google Meet app ahead of time to make the process smooth and stress-free.
STEP 2
Getting ready for your telehealth session
Once you’ve logged into your meeting, you should see both your therapist and yourself on the screen.
-
Check your camera and microphone
Make sure they’re turned on! You’ll find the icons for these at the bottom of your screen.
With everything set, you’re ready to start your session! If you have any trouble, don’t hesitate to ask your therapist for guidance.
